Eric Huntley RSW

Eric Huntley RSW 1927 -1992

Eric Huntley was head of the Art Department at Berwick upon Tweed High School for many years. He has a particularly strong following among his former pupils all of whom hold him in very high regard.

Born in Low Fell, Gateshead, he trained at King’s College in Newcastle, now the University of Newcastle upon Tyne but then part of Durham University, where he graduated with first class honours in 1950. A year later he passed his teaching certificate with a distinction.

After national service he came to Berwick settling in nearby Paxton just inside Scotland. The hills and valleys of Berwickshire, north Northumberland and the Scottish Borders, the coast and the River Tweed predominate in his work.
